The Inland Revenue were to implement new rules for the Construction Industry Scheme as from 6th April 2006. This has now been delayed for 12 months but that does not mean you should ignore it.

• There will be no longer any need for CIS cards and certificates.
• There will no longer be CIS annual returns.
• Contractors must make monthly returns and payments to the Revenue for all subcontractors.
• Most existing subcontractors will transferred automatically to the new scheme.
• New subcontractors will be required to register with the Inland Revenue.

On the 1st March 2004 the Regulations regarding the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and the Money Laundering Regulations 2003 become effective.
In common with all accountancy and legal practices, we are required by the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and the Money Laundering Regulations 2003 to:

• Maintain identification procedures for all new clients.
• Maintain records of identification evidence.
• Report, in accordance with the relevant legislation and regulations, to the National Criminal Intelligence Service .
